Warner Bros Entertainment and Universal Orlando Resort (Universal Studios) have joined forces to create the world’s first Harry Potter based theme park. Based on the best-selling series of children’s books by Scottish author JK Rowling, the Harry Potter films shot to the top of box office lists, and now the magical world will soon become a reality as Harry and friends are brought to life in the new Orlando attraction.
Dubbed a ‘theme park within a theme park’, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is set to open in 2010 as part of Universal Studio’s Islands of Adventure, a hugely popular attraction in its own right.
Vowing to be faithful to the landscapes used to create the wizard’s world on our cinema screens, the park will offer visitors a chance to explore a world they have only read about or seen after the director’s cut: key locations to discover will include Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (its main attraction), Hogsmeade village, and the dangerous Forbidden Forest. Shops and restaurants based on those featured in the books will also be open for the marauding Muggles (non-magic folk) to sample Wizarding wares for the first time.
